Andy entered Whittier College after graduating from Pioneer High School where he was chosen as the Senior Athlete of the Year, won three varsity letters in baseball and was named an All League Player.

At Whittier College, Andy earned four varsity letters with the Poets and was selected All SCIAC as a Pitcher in 1973 and 1974. He was Second Team All SCIAC in 1972. He was nicknamed “Ace” by the coach and his teammates. 

Andy played professional baseball in the California League, the Midwest League, the Mexican League and the Pacific League. He was a pitching instructor for Northwest Minor League from 1982 to 1984. 

Castillo earned his M.A Degree from Claremont Graduate School in 1979 and his Pupil Personnel Credential from the University of La Verne in 1983.

Andy served as a counselor for the Whittier City Schools and is currently an administrator with the Montebello Unified School District.
