League champion in the 880 yard run setting the school record in the mile at Coachella Valley Union High School, Bruce Weed enrolled at Orange Coast College 1950 setting records in the 880 yard run, mile and mile relay team becoming the state mile champion in 1952 and running the fastest Junior College mile time in the nation. 

At Whittier, Bruce was a two-year varsity track and cross country letterman for the Poets. He was a member of the All SCIAC cross country championship team in 1952-53. He was captain of the 1953-54 cross country team. In 1954 he set the SCIAC record in the 880 yard run with a time of 1:54.6 at Oxy. In 1954 he was a member of the SCIAC Mile Champion relay team. Bruce was also a member of the national champion distance medley team at the 1954 Drake Relays.

After graduating from Whittier College, Bruce served two years in the U.S. Army and then began his career as a teacher in the Anaheim School District.

In 1975 he was inducted into the Orange Coast Track & Field Hall of Fame.

Bruce married a Whittier College graduate and they currently live in Garden Grove with their four children.
