Bill graduated from Long Beach Poly High School and was a member of the Poet Swim Team and was a SCIAC Conference Diving Champion in 1931, 1932, and 1933. 

  • Placed third each of these years in the Breast Stroke.

  • Earned three varsity letters in track (1931, 1932, 1933)

  • Captain of the 1933 SCIAC Champs. Pole Vault Champ back in 1932 and 1933

  • Set the conference record in 1932 of 13 feet 2 ¾ inches with a bamboo pole

  • Leader of Poet Tumbling Team

  • Served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Amphibious Forces 1944-46

  • Physical Education Director of YMCA’s, High Schools and Junior Colleges

  • Chairman of AAU Masters Divers (Now U.S. Diving) 1977-81

  • Received the Fred A. Cady Memorial Diving Coaches Achievement Award in 1975, a State, National and International Recognition

  • Still coaches and dives for the Master Divers in the 50 Plus age group.
