At San Gabriel High School, Orlando participated in soccer, football, and track. It was soccer however, that became his favorite sport. In Soccer, he was named All CIF Defensive Player of the Year in both his junior and senior years of high school. He attended East Los Angeles Junior College playing on the 1974 conference championship team his freshman year and was Captain of the 1975 State Championship team as a Sophomore.
Transferring to Whittier in 1976, he was an outstanding player his junior and senior years. Orlando earned varsity letters, was team captain, named Most Valuable Player and was chosen All Conference SCIAC first team soccer player in both 1976-77 and 1977-78. He was selected 1976-77 NAIA All American back.
In eight years of coaching soccer at Bell Gardens High School, his overall record is 142-27-23, with six league championships and one CIF 3A championship. During his first season as a coach at East Los Angeles Junior College in 1988, he led his team to an SCAC championship with a record of 12-1-4.
Orlando was the liaison with the Brazilian soccer team for the 1984 Summer Olympics, organizing all extracurricular activities for the team.
Orlando resides in Pomona with his wife and son.
