An outstanding player on the Cardinals championship teams at Whittier High School, Gary Campbell earned three varsity football letters at Whittier College.

He was second team SCIAC in 1956-57 and first team in 1958-59, when he was NAIA All American second team halfback. In 1959-60 he was again first team SCIAC and was named Poet “Co-Athlete of the Year” and NAIA All American first team quarterback.

Gary holds the existing record in season scoring at Whittier, 90 points. His best season passing completions was 62.6%, 87 out of 139 in 1957 and his career percentage from 1957-59 was 61.4% 198 out of 322. His total offensive yardage for the season was 2383 in 1959, with a career total of 5177 from 1956-59. His record led to his being drafted by the San Francisco Forty-niners.

Gary is in the importing business and lives with his wife and three children in Brea, California.
