Edward Albert “Puss” Thompson was one of the group of outstanding players from Coronado High School.

Best known as a blocking back, weighed only 155 lbs

Regarded as one of the best defensive players on the West Coast

His offensive blocking made possible much of the yardage gained by the running backs.

“Puss” was also an excellent open field ball carrier. Earned letters as a first team player in 1920-21-22 and 24. Elected captain in 1923, he did not return to school that year; but came back in 1924 and helped win the championship
