  • Bill came to the Poet campus from Whittier HS in 1945 where he earned 3 varsity letters and played under Coach Aubrey Bonham his junior and senior years.

  • In the 1944-45 season, the Whittier HS team won the league championship with 20 wins and only 1 loss

  • All CIF 2nd Team, 1945

  • At Whittier College, he continued playing for Coach Bonham and lettered in Basketball all 4 years

  • He played on 3 Championship teams 1946-47, 47-48, 48-49

  • Selected for All Conference honors each of his 4 years at Whittier and served as Team Captain his senior season 

  • Set the All-Time Pacific Coast scoring mark during his Poet career with 366 points in 1945-46, 415 in 1946-47, 455 in 1947-48 and 389 in 1948-49 for a total of 1,625 points

  • Bill was the 10th top scorer in the nation in 1948-49

  • “Athlete of the Month” by the Helms Foundation in March of 1949 and was named Whittier College Athlete of the Year in 1949 as well.

  • Bill went on to coach HS Basketball at Sherman E. Burroughs, Ridgecrest, California, and Downey with an overall coaching record of 250-166 (.60)
